24 h of Nürburgring 2019

The iRacing special event ‘24 hours of Nürburgring’ is, perhaps, one of the most difficult challenges of the year. Last year we clinched an excellent result: A podium with the Porsche 911 GT3 Cup in the top split. But the first goal for every team taking part in this challenge is to finish the race.

The main news in the 2019 edition was the day/night transition, recently implemented by iRacing, which implied dramatic temperature changes from day to night. Therefore, optimising the car balance was even more complicated than in previous years.
Our team took part in the event with two Mercedes AMG GT3: the UI1-Positive SimRacing Orange and the UI1-Positive SimRacing Blue. Both cars finished the race, this team being one of the few teams completing the challenge with more than one car.
Jake Burton, Michael Healey, and Ross Rizzo were assigned to the Blue car, and they could finish in P7 in the top split, despite two disconnections and several issues that made Michael and Ross drive 100% of the race. This was an epic drove from both drivers, who finally clinched an excellent result.
Javi Utreras, Glenn Key, Manuel Heuer were assigned to the second split, and the goal was the victory or a podium in the second split. But the Green Hell had a 22 min of repairs waiting for them, and the final position was P8. The drivers also completed the race after an excellent effort to drive a car with a compromised performance.
